MCL-Collection/Installation Instructions
MCL- Designer v3.10 and above:
MCL-Designer v3.10 now has two components to download for functionality:
  • the MCL-Designer "Engine", which represents the core functionality that's applied to the individual Symbol terminals.
  • The MCL-Designer Engine will not function without at least one Symbol terminal define or Device Plug-In, which is the second component as defined in the next step below.

MCL-Designer and the Device Plug-Ins will operate in demo mode until you have purchased and activated the appropriate MCL-License(s).

Demo mode is fully functional with some restrictions, like converting applications and sending applications to the terminal.
  • a series of "Device Plug-In" files, which represent the individual Symbol terminals. The Device Plug-In defines the specific Symbol device functionality enabling you to work with all the terminals available features
    • Device Plug-In files must be installed one at a time. If you install the same Device Plug-In file twice it will upgrade the previous version, which will not affect your existing application.
    • You can download and install as many of the Device Plug-In files as you want. Download what you need now and add more as needed.
    • After installing your chosen Device Plug-In file MCL-Designer will run with all installed Device Plug-Ins that are available.
    • You can create MCL applications to run on any of the installed devices. If, in time, you find you need another Device Plug-In, simply close MCL-Designer, download and install the Device Plug-In file.
    • All devices included in the Device Plug-In that you have installed will, initially be available in Demo mode. To operate in full feature mode (non-demo mode) you must purchase and activate the appropriate MCL-Designer license.

Two activation Methods:
There are two methods to activate your MCL-Designer, MCL-Link, and MCL-Net software license:
1) via a Hardware Key (Parallel or USB) that allows you to transfer the software to another PC or 2) via a Software Key that doesn't require a physical key but does not allow you to transfer the software to another PC. Note: MCL-Client activation method is only available via the Software Key.

If you use the software activation method, the license cannot be moved, reset, re-activated, changed, re-assigned, or transferred to another computer. If you rent, lease, or frequently retire PC's or if your PC crashes, than you need to use the hardware key method.
